Our farmers market is open. Please don’t jeopardize it and your health by ignoring public health advisories. We are proud that the market has become a gathering place but at this time our focus is providing an essential and affordable resource for the community.

  • OUR RESPONSE TO COVID-19

Farmer’s Markets are essential resources providing local foods to the community.

The Janesville Farmers Market (JFM) will open on May 2nd, 2020 as planned.   Market hours will be: Saturdays 8 AM – 1 PM

We are, however, planning changes in our strategies, vendor placement and policies to satisfy current recommendations to prevent spread of the virus. JFM is working closely with the City of Janesville.

There will be no kids’ activities, no sampling, no special events. As always, we will not allow pets.

Flowers will be available starting May 23rd.

Ready-to-eat foods will be available starting May 30th.

Artisan vendors will start to come back into the market starting June 6th.

Things we ask of the public:

    • As always we do not allow dogs at the market. Service Dogs are exempt.

The following things will be done by the vendors/ market staff to ensure safety:

    • Vendor booths will only be set up on one side of the street and have a minimum of 10 feet between booths.
    • Vendors will have an extra empty table between the product and the customer or a rope system.
    • Vendors must serve customers and are encouraged to have two workers, one handling the food and the other handling the money. Customers cannot reach and touch the produce, etc.
    • Vendors will only use single use bags at this time.
    • Vendors will sanitize and clean their booths/table regularly.
    • The market will require market staff, volunteers, and vendors to wear facemasks.
    • The market will require vendors to have their own hand washing station/ sanitizer at their booth.
    • The market will have hand washing stations/ sanitizer available throughout the market for attendees to use.
  • OTHER AREA MARKETS

We love our farmers market community in the Southern Wisconsin area, and know every market is reviewing the conditions daily. The Janesville Farmers Market has worked with the City of Janesville, and we believe we have a workable solution in these uncertain times. We ask for your patience as plans are communicated and we urge you to support other markets in our area through virtual opportunities and in-person when they open. Thank you for supporting community farmers markets.

  • PLEASE CONSIDER DONATING

The market like all small businesses is struggling to keep afloat in these tough times. As a not-for-profit our yearly budget is razor thin. Please consider donating to the market to keep us going.

    INCOME VS. EXPENSES

Income decreasing due to: reduced number of stalls, types of vendors allowed at market, lack of potential sponsors.

Expense decreasing due to: additional signage, equipment rentals
